Wimbledon

I’ve been to Wimbledon, and what an experience it was. We arrived at Wimbledon Park and joined the queue at 6.45am. By the time we arrived, there were already thousands of people at the park, having breakfast, chatting, listen to the radio, reading newspapers, talking about tennis, making new friends, taking photos or just simply enjoying the unbelievable scenery. Judging from the queue card I got from the steward, I was the 2359th person queueing that morning. We started to left Wimbledon Park and walked towards the security check at 9.30 am. That was almost 3 hours of waiting! I sat down and read the papers most of the time..but the best part was we got lots of freebies; free sunscreen, free Evian, free chewing gum, free breakfast bar, free strawberries, free mini radio, free sticker, and free Wimbledon cd of past champions!

Queueing for Wimbledon

The security check was very tight. It made me feel like at the airport. Yup, exactly like one! It was the security that hold the queue. 300 yards later, we were at the turnstiles. They only accept cash for the tickets to speed up the process. We were waiting at the holding area until gates to all courts are opened for visitors at 10.30am. Damn, the area was so crowded with people. In the mean time, my brother and I visited the Wimbledon shop, bought few souvenirs and took photos to kill the time. The weather was nice though, sunny and breezy :D

Holding area

Once the gates were opened at 10.30 am, we walked around the ground taking photos. We saw V Williams, Blake, Haas, Robredo, J Murray, Santoro, and lots more . All this while, I’ve only seen them on the telly and to watch them just few metres away was great!! I wish I could see Roddick or Nadal that day, but our ticket only gave us access to court 2 to 19. I didn’t know all the players, esp the doubles, but my brother recognised lots of them so this trip really made his day!

court 3

The pic above was taken at court 3. The big green building in the pic is the centre court. Matches on court 2 to 19 started at noon, so waiting under the sun was such a pain! I’m roasted, totally roasted!! perhaps slightly overcooked if I were a steak. I kept applying the sunscreen (SPF 50 okay, specially for sport lagi..) but to no avail..hampeh. Despite that, I’m glad we decided to go to Wimbledon. It was such a great experience for me. 5 years in the UK, at least I went once. Thankfully I know a little bit about tennis, even though I couldn’t play. What a shame. I should learn how to play lah.. It looks fun!

We took lots of photos esp the players. I will upload them in my Friendster soon after Aizat finished editing them.

I just finished watching EURO 2008 highlights on ITV4. Damn, we missed the equaliser and the penalty. I could not believe it!! The truth is when Croatia scored at 119 mins, I walked out of the room, mimie switched off the TV. That was it, Croatia won 1-0. 15 minutes later, she screamed. I rushed upstairs and she said, the Turks are in the semis!! hahaha…we should have stayed a bit longer. This is football anyway. Anything can happen in the last minutes even seconds….

Enough of football, back to the real world. It’s 12:01am. God, it’s Saturday already. My brother is coming today. It seems like yesterday when I gave ayah a surprise phone call to ‘export’ him to the UK. And I had a long day yesterday. Did a lot of cleaning, hoovering, mopping, washing, wiping, recycling etc etc etc… The whole house is like new. Like Mimie said “wow berkilat2 rumah“. Of course, look who did the cleaning lah… If there is such thing called efficient housewife award, I could have won!!

Off to sleep now. Tomorrow will be an interesting day with my brother around :D

Go Germany! Good Luck girls!

It was an exciting quarter-final :) My Germany won and I’m full with Paan House lamb biryani (seymour grove girls favourite take away). As usual, azraa supported her Portugal team, while mimie and I were temporarily Germans hehehe.. I know they can go far despite lost to Croatia in the group match. Yup, a lesson learnt tonight, never lost hope in your favourite team. And it was equally fun to see Germany coach Joachim Loew reactions from the stand as he was banned from the sidelines for his team’s quarter-final game. Awaiting them in the semis would be the winner between Croatia and Turkey. I really hope Croatia make it to the semis. Then it will be a pay back time boys!

Later than night, we all went for desserts at Rusholme. This is our last night out as housemates. I had faluda. It’s basically a pink cendol with vanilla ice cream. Sweet, but yummy :p Time flies and each one of use will embark on a new journey, scared of what lies ahead. One of us will get married, I wish her all the happiness in the world. One will continue her PhD, so good luck to you girl! As for the other one, stop playing around hehe and I hope all your dreams come true. And me? I just want to be happy :)

Benvenuto a Italia!

My ‘special one’ is moving to San Siro. He’s out of job until 2 days ago. Glad to see him back ;) . I’ve been knowing him for the last 3 years. He is arrogant, full of himself, scornfully and condescendingly proud, super-duper-overconfident, snooty, bigheaded…name it, he definitely has them all. But above all, he has ambition, he works with great passion and he delivers the result. Who cares what people are saying about him. I just can not not love this man. I love his attitude, his statements, his words. I feel sorry to those yang annoyed by this man presence..hehehe..Just keep this in your mind though, “either you love him or hate him. Either way, you’re going to miss him when he’s gone”

Because of him, I’m going to bid my farewell to Chelsea and EPL. Starting from today, I’m officially an Inter Milan supporter, a Nerazzurri ! Owh, I just realise Italian footballers are so much better looking then the English..huhu..

In bocca al lupo, Jose Mourinho!

ManU 1 : Chelsea 1 (p 6-5)

Man U won the Champion League

My housemates and I decided to watch Champion League final between Manchester United and Chelsea together at home today. Kick-off started at 7.45pm, so in the meantime, we ordered takeaway!!! yeay…there were 14 inches pizza, 8 pieces of giant fried chickens, chips, keropok ikan and 3 bottles of juice…yum yum. The match was so-so I would say. Ronaldo scored first then Lampard equalised 1 minute before half-time. The game dragged until penalty shoot out as I predicted earlier on. There were 4 of us, 2 supported Man U (you can tell they are Man U fans by looking at their red t-shirt OK!) while me and my other housemate supported the ‘blues’. Well, we were not really into Chelsea, but it just fun to have 4 girls made up a team of 2 and shouted at each other throats. We screamed! We shouted! We ooooo! We aahhhhhh! We jumped! We hugged! We laughed and we were definitely having a good time! In the end Man U won, but who cares. It’s just football. And you know it is only in football that it is acceptable for handsome tough masculine men to cry, hug, kiss, pat and comfort each other while being witnessed by millions of people worldwide…euuuuwwww!!! So final wistle Manchester United 1- Chelsea 1, ManU won by penalty shoot out 6-5. Poor Terry, I could feel your disappointment after missing that penalty!! huhuhuhu…
