name
Parents nowadays… hmm.. how shall i put it.. have become more ‘advanturous’ in giving names to their children. Imagine a young girl name Cahaya Olivia (yup this is a malay girl. her mommy calls her Olive..hehehehe).. so bizarre right? i’ve been in paediatrics almost a month now. I have not seen any child with classic malay name like Ali, Abu, Omar, Husin, Osman, Siti Aminah, Fatimah, Maimunah, Umi Kalsom, Zabedah, Abdul Rahman, Kamaruddin, Hajar, Zulkifli, Ramli, Jamilah etc anymore.. These are the names of the previous generation. The trend has changed. Now is the era for names like Danial, Darwish, Eriqa, Qisteena, Haiqal, Hazieq, Niejad, Ryan, Harziq, Qaisara, Dania, Aqil, Shazzy, Emmil …and many more. To make the name sounds super bombastic, the name can be extremely long like Muhammad Ryan Izzuddin Syah bin… or Puteri Emilia Qistina Qaisara bt…. Adoooiii can u imagine how tideous it is to write their names in the blood investigation forms? I actually pity these kids. Imagine when they are 5 or 6 years old, go to kindergarden and learning how to write their name. I bet until standrad 1 pun blom tentu they can spell their names correctly. Thus in exams they would spend more than 5 minutes writing up their names only. Then imagine when they are completing objective paper (ala..kertas ABC yg kene hitamkan itu..) either in exams or fill in UPU/Matriks application forms, i bet their names are too long too fit and their hands would turn numb doing it. What are their parents actually thinking??? Crazy2… Btw, i love my name. short and simple. therefore i will make sure my kids will have short name as well esp if their daddy’s name sudah panjang berjela2…. 1 word is enough for a name! some people might not agree, but this is just my humble thought..
ciao!
