1st death

28 January, 2009 mangoandjojoba 2 comments

Finally, a patient died on my oncall night.

My first cardiac arrest. I had to conduct the resuscitation.

It was still early in the morning. I was sleeping at that time. Staff nurse rang my room saying patient was unresponsive. One word came out from my mouth “Hah??” I just grabbed my tudung and ran to the ward. Patient already in asystole at that time. Old, frail lady with advanced bladder cancer. I did the CPR, called her death, informed family members then filled in lotzzzz of forms.. *sigh*

The deceased daughter-in-law came to me, hug me, cried and said.. “Thank you, doctor”

Suddenly…

I hate this job :(

Jona

So far i’m not “jona” yet!

hahahaha.. i was tercenggang2 like stupid monkey when i first heard the word. Apehal semua org kat hospital asyik kate jona, jona, jona… jo-on kah?

Jona means you have such a bad oncall day. Jona means you got sooooo many admissions to clark. Jona means you got unstable patients that need to be reviewed hourly or 2 hourly. Jona means patient collapse on your oncall day. Jona means you wouldn’t get a chance to sleep lah!

There’s this rumours la, if you’re not jona on your first oncall, you wouldn’t be jona for the rest of the year! And once you jona, you would jona forever!

Yippie… i’m not jona yet!
